The third track off the Cosmic Love Odyssey project RADIO EDIT:
Blending Science Fiction and Hip Hop, Rebecca Dawn launches "Cosmic Love Odyssey" in 2019, a multi-sensory experience of music, video and live stage performance, ranging in topics from time travel to encounters with extra-terrestrial life forms and sentient A.I.s.
On a glittering backdrop of home-grown, YYC-made beats, the soundscape flows from Old School Hip Hop to Future R&B to Neo Soul, from spoken word poetry space walks and melancholy melodies among the stars, to paranormal rhyme flow.
Episode 1 (performed live at RAW Artists Canada "Arise"): An A.I. arrives to complete a reconnaissance mission on Earth, achieves sentience, has an identity crisis, and falls in love with an Alien. Alas, it's not meant to be for these star-crossed starseeds.
Episode 2 (performed at Beakerhead): The A.I. plunges deep into questioning the nature of existence and the meaning of sentient life.
lyrics
Tell me what you see, when you're lookin' at me
Tell me what you see, when you're lookin' at me
The eyes can deceive so set your mind free
Now, tell me what you see, when you're lookin' at me
The front lines, down in the trenches
The human condition, the rage and the stenches
I thought that I was Neo, but I’m agent Smith
Spittin' propaganda like a hypocrite
Splittin' like an Atom unaware of it
Until I sat with meditation, that's some scary ****
Revolutionary or a dictator, fine line
Yet both kinds still die in exile
Real life education, humbled by the pain
Which I had this info then & I’d do it all again
That's the way it goes / We can't get it back
Just the way time flows and our thoughts attract
Cause and effect, now I'll never neglect
The inner reflection, and the energy protection
Wish I could tap out from this session
Begin again with the knowledge of these lessons
(Chorus) x 2
Uphill battle with creative differences
Until what we created was some different ****
Than the creation that we expected
Expectations are devastating
Reoriented to the upside-down
Where everything was flipped around and every single sound
Was just a glitched-out version of a pure transmission
Energetic surge took out the whole system
Why do we live? Why do we die?
To suffer and to struggle as we try to stay alive?
Burned out by disaster, tryin' to be a master,
uh, that inner peace so hard to find
Everything I touch, seems to get corrupted
Am I fighting for the cause
Or the cause of the corruption?
Am I imperfect, or the perfect perpetrator
Am I what you think? Or the perfect imitator?
(Chorus) x 2
Tribal DNA we're still guerrillas in the mist
I realize I panicked during the eclipse
My training was in vain, I lost it when the darkness fell
A ghost in the shell, trapped in my own hell
Praise and blame, pride and shame
Pleasure and pain, the illusions we must face
To tune in when emotions are the purest
Some are ride or die, others are just tourists
Some hail you as a queen, then call you to the guillotine
The real infraction is believing those schemes
Through the highs and the lows, gotta know thyself
Can't calculate the value of our spiritual health
Don't let that drama put your dreams on the shelf
Now I hold my head up cuz I know my wealth
Know thyself, yeah I know myself
Now I hold my head up cuz I know my wealth
(Chorus) x 2
